Group Spiritual Direction

Group Spiritual Direction at Tree by Water began with a desire to bring a safe, focused environment to spiritual conversations.

There are currently no groups meeting for group spiritual direction. Consider joining an Original Group. Click here.

Group Spiritual Direction is to provide a place where individuals can experience what it means to be listened to and loved by others, so that they can learn to listen more attentively to God in their daily lives and be used by God to spread God's grace and love through the world.*

We meet to help one another become more aware of the presence of God and more attuned to ourselves in relationship with God.

In these groups, we listen, encourage, and ask questions with the hope that our words will help others to listen to themselves and God. I (Laura) will be leading the questions. If you do not know what to say, then it is perfectly fine to remain silently listening and supporting.

Spiritual Direction Groups are not small groups. They are not committees. They are not study groups. They are not accountability groups. They are listening groups. Discerning Groups. Affirming Groups. We come together to help one another to become more aware of His presence.

We are careful with one another.

So what do we do?

  1. We quiet ourselves down. We give others a non-anxious presence.

  2. We carefully ask questions.

  When we share we will

  1. Be authentic

  2. Seek truth

  3. Look for God in the hear and now

The Essentials:

- Absolute Confidentality

- Regular Attendance

- Affirming and loving and kind to one another
